Denis knows a lot about soil, in fact Dr. Denis, is not only good at classifying the soil under a building, his great love is the microscopic animals that live in it, to the point that he has gained a PhD, and has published papers on the subject. With many years experience in Laboratories and Engineering situations, in the KAE tradition he is still fully hands on. The person drilling the hole with the excavator or hand auger is probably Denis himself. A good soil test is more than just the analysis of a handful of soil out of the ground, it is looking at the big picture, the way neighbouring buildings are behaving, what the trees are doing, where the water flows.
